THE PASSION BEHIND THE EXPLORERS
< behind the cameras >
When 2020 rolled on by, we decided to focus on what was under our noses the entire time; the beautiful place we found ourselves locked down in. With flights grounded and borders closed, we discovered, like so many South Africans, a renewed enthusiasm for the untamed landscapes, wild & elusive creatures & perfectly sculpted coastlines of crisp white sands & wild, rolling waves, right here, in our own country.
So we set off from the idyllic valley of Hout Bay, to broaden our horizons where the horizons are broad, the cell phone signal is sketchy at best, and the miracle of life is represented in every moment. This addictive new life has no destination, no end date, and nothing is off limits. We can’t wait to see what’s next and we really hope that while you’re finding your own path, you follow our’s on Instagram too.

STORYTELLER
Nandi comes from a creative background and spends most of her day creating brand identities, illustrating, writing & taking photographs. She loves animals (especially big puppies & of course, leopards), shoes, books and wild coastlines. She’s at her happiest when she’s in the bush with her family & her camera or documenting conservation stories as they unfold.
photography & film making
copywriting & social media
design & brand building
illustration & conservation
RIGHT NOW
Nandi is probably editing photographs, baking bread, painting a piece of furniture, doodling or squeezing Odie-ka-podie, their malinois puppy.
BRAVE & BOLD
Grant loves adventure and finds his happy place on open roads. He loves to photograph landscapes, lodges and wildlife the most, but he’s never afraid to try something new. You’ll find him planning their next trip with a cuppa, or chasing dramatic clouds with his camera. His work as an anti-poaching manager has ignited his passion for conservation & he continues to tell the stories of the animals who don’t have a voice.
photography & film making
social media marketing
web design & development
conservationist & storyteller
RIGHT NOW
Grant is probably taking a timelapse of the clouds, pouring over a map deciding on routes or playing soccer in the garden with Max. He might be creating content for lodges, or cooking something delicious in the kitchen.
ALWAYS CURIOUS
Max loves wildlife. His favourite memories include a helicopter ride during a rhino dehorning operation and watching cheetahs in the Kgalagadi. You’ll find Max playing soccer, looking for big cats in the bush, reading bedtime stories, carefully selecting fun socks & drinking hot chocolate.

photography assistant
trend alert manager
conservationist
RIGHT NOW
Max is probably looking up a bird he’s spotted, playing soccer with his dad and his dog, or maybe he’s helping Nandi to bake in the kitchen. He might even be shopping for new shoes or absorbing documentaries on tv.
THE BUFFOON
Odin loves his people and is incredibly loyal, as sharp as a whip and and as fast too. He loves training and began his life as an anti-poaching puppy where he’s practised in bite-work. Odin is dashingly handsome, and has a distinctly floppy ear, which his mother (Nandi) adores. He has many good nap spots, though, apparently, nowhere as comfortable as on your face.
alarm system (often faulty)
really strong rope tugger
professional tigger
bug hunter
RIGHT NOW
Odin is probably taking a nap, playing with his rope toys or telling the tortoises to please move away from the fence. He might also be working hard during his training or going for a 10km run followed by a swim.
AN ODE TO A CAR
For 3 amazing years, Lula trundled up mountains, saved her family from many tight spots, traversed over 100,000km around South Africa safely, and allowed the team to dream, explore, and create memories in distant lands. Though she has now been retired, she’ll always be the car that enabled her people to bravely embark on the adventure of a lifetime.
